A unique characteristic of the Café du Burundi platform is the attention it gives to what we have come to call “coffee art.” While the thrust of the data base and knowledge network is the provision of accurate and factual, often quantitative, information for the purposes of more efficient and productive agricultural systems and agribusiness, we recognize that Burundi coffee is much more than this. So, to give balance to the platform and to stimulate the imaginations of our users and contributors, we populate these web pages with paintings, prints, pastels, drawings, and photographs that capture the spirit and beauty of Burundi coffee and of the people and places that produce it.
Please note that notion of coffee art used here is not to be confused with what is often referred to as “latte art,” or the stylized drawings professional baristas create from crema and microfoam on the surface of caffe latte.
To help us to expand and keep our pool of coffee art exciting and fresh we ask those of you with special creative talents to submit your own artwork and photographs on the theme of Burundi coffee for potential display and recognition. Please submit digital images to CafeduBurundi@gmail.com.
And for coffee roasters and retailers we encourage you to share with us images of your Burundi coffee labels. We will proudly post your labels on the Café du Burundi website, letting the world know you are committed to exemplary coffees and to sustainable livelihoods for Burundi’s coffee growers. Please submit digital images to CafeduBurundi@gmail.com.
