There numerous dry mills operating in Burundi today. Both public and private, they vary in size and capacity to mill specialty coffee. Several are are located at higher elevations where it is cooler and more suitable for the storage of high quality coffees. Catering to the specific quality requirements for milling specialty coffee, mills in Burundi are equipped with some or all of the following equipment: catadors, densometric tables, monochromatic or biochromatic color sorters and UV sorters. Most coffee mills in Burundi also maintain infrastructure and personnel for hand sorting of parchment to ensure that defective beans are removed and coffees are of the very highest quality.
